This beautiful antique English copper tea kettle, dating to the mid-19th century, is a wonderful example of traditional Victorian copper craftsmanship. The kettle features an elegant oval body, a gracefully curved spout, and a classic silhouette that would have been commonly found in English kitchens of the period.

The kettle is fitted with a porcelain handle mounted in beautifully hand-formed brass fittings, which include embossed decorative details at the handle mounts. These sculptural brass elements add both strength and visual character, highlighting the level of craftsmanship that went into even everyday kitchen pieces during the 19th century. The porcelain handle itself shows a subtle aged crackle glaze typical of antique handles and provides comfortable insulation from heat.

The lid sits neatly within a rolled rim and is topped with a simple, elegant finial. The interior has been professionally relined with 99.9% pure tin, ensuring it is safe for boiling water while preserving the integrity of the original copper vessel.

Stamped to the underside is a maker’s mark consisting of the letter “S” accompanied by a small decorative head mark, likely representing a 19th-century English copper workshop or regional maker, as many working kettles were produced by smaller copper smiths rather than large factories.

Founder Beth Ann particularly appreciates pieces like this for their honest craftsmanship and beautiful hand-formed details, especially the embossed brass handle mounts that add an extra layer of character to the piece.

The kettle holds approximately 2 quarts, making it both a functional heirloom for tea preparation and a stunning display piece in a historic or vintage-inspired kitchen.
